Staff Sustainability Training

Internal Communications Toolkit

Staff are a very important part of the sustainable business development cycle. To date, much of the work in assisting companies to become more sustainable and resource efficient has been related to senior managers or back office staff only, leaving the real mass implementers of change unaware of the developments taking place.

The connection is not only downstream, staff are the best measurement and reporting devices that money can buy, and as part of this communications toolkit, WM Energy will conduct an electronic survey of your staff, asking them a series of targeted questions that we will tailor to your organisations profile.

From this, we can build a picture of your staff’s awareness of environmental issues and their willingness to implement change at the individual level. We can also gain valuable insights into inefficiencies and bad practice in the workplace that may yield considerable sustainability wins when corrected.

For example, the opening of windows whilst the heating is on or an overall staff willingness to split waste into recycling groups but no recycling facilities are provided.

Armed with these results, we generate specific staff and stakeholder communications which address these concerns and provide the knowledge needed to overcome any barriers.

In essence, we activate your staff to work towards the same environmental improvement outcomes as the management team, unifying your organisation.

Our approach varies depending on your organisations specific needs, but may include;

  • Staff workshops targeting key opportunity areas
  • E-learning exercises either in email fact sheet form or built into your corporate file structure or Microsoft SharePoint Server if available
  • Point of use information labels or posters
  • Individual coaching of key staff

Call us on 0207 378 5800 or contact us by email to discuss how we can embark on your organisations internal sustainability plan.

Food for thought
“Our society lacks a feedback loop for controlling technology: a way to gauge intended effects from actual effects later on.”
